We know what it's like to want to take those first steps and get involved with a cycling club by coming out on a club run. A lot of people are understandably worried that they will slow down the group, or get left behind and look 'silly'.
At Stockton Wheelers we want to alleviate those worries. Currently, we have two levels of Club Runs on a Sunday - one which will be a of a fast pace over longer distances (average 17mph+ over 50 miles or more) and a shorter ride where the pace will always be that of the slowest rider, and with routes that are designed so that there are 'bail-out' points where you can turn-off and head back if you need to. Often we'll stop for a coffee and a cake in a cafe. If you stay with the group for the shorter ride, you'd complete around 30 miles.
Alternatively, if you want to do a route that is shorter still, but would like to meet some club members, you can always get in touch and there's a very high chance that a couple of members will also want a shorter, slower ride that week and be more than happy to ride out.
On Sunday 26 February at 9.30am we will be meeting for a 'Come and Try It' club run from Kirklevington and you are welcome to come along. Details of the route are here - the route is designed so that there will be plenty of opportunities to turn off and cut the ride short should you need to.
The group will not be too fast for you, you won't be left behind and you absolutely, definitely, won't look silly!!!
