2014 50 Mile TT Results

For information to all members, here are the results of our 50mile Time Trial which incorporates the R A Walker Victory Cup for the Annual S W 50mile road handicap competition. Event Organiser Colin Lowe says he'll see you all on it when you enter next year!

Special thanks to:

Thankfully the weather was far better than the forecast with not much wind and relatively dry! 

1st -Joel Wainman, Team Swift,no.50-again with a superb winning time of 1:45:33 (1min25 faster than 2013!)

2nd – Nigel Haigh, Strategic Lions, no. 20 - a close second in 1:47:05

3rd – Mark Wolstenholme, Team Swift – Arthur Read Jeweller,no.30-an excellent third with 1:48:32

1st Lady – Karen Taylor, East Bradford CC, no.8 with an excellent 2:05:37

1st V 40-49 – Duncan Mullier, Harrogate Nova CC, no. 35 - in 1:49:58 (awarded under the one prize per rider rule re: N Haigh)

1st V 50-59 - Gareth Metcalfe, Otley CC, no. 31 – 1:58:28

and Peter Greenwood, Team Swift, no. 10 - awarded 1st V60+  with a superb 1:52:14

Team Swift won the Team Prize in a combined (3-rider) time of 5:26:19
- consisting of Joel Wainman, Mark Wolstenholme and Peter Greenwood (times as above)

Special mention to Paul Thirling, who won the R A Walker Victory Cup – since 1919 an Annual
50-55 Road Handicap for Stockton Wheeler Riders only. He held off the challenges of Graeme 
Carter (4mins Handicap time reduction), Michael Dalton and Jeff Belt (both 14 mins); to win this 
prestigious trophy. On Handicap, Michael was 2nd, Graeme 3rd and Jeff 4th. Thanks to Don Urwin for the handicapping.
