Stockton Wheelers Annual General Meeting

posted 12 Dec 2016, 00:45 by Membership Secretary
All members are invited to our AGM and Quarterly Meeting at the Elm Tree Social Club, Bishopton Lane, Stockton TS19 0QJ at 7.30pm on Monday 12th December 2016.

AGM we will elect the officers who will take the club forward in 2017. This year has seen our Secretary and Social Secretary leave Teesside because of work commitments, and our Racing Secretary has left the club to pursue other interests. There are these vacancies to fill and there is a description of the resopnsibilities below.

The Secretary is the club administrator. Responsibilities include: dealing with club correspondence, actioning it or forwarding it for action to the most appropriate person; preparing the agenda for meetings and recording the minutes of the meetings. It has become the norm to issue minutes and meeting notices by email, and it would be beneficial to be  confident using a computer. Michelle and Colin have both filled this position before and will give you all the help they can.
The Social Secretary organises social events for the club. This is a role for someone with imagination and good social skills, who can put on events that bring members together.  The main activity is to organise the annual Prize Presentation in January. There is a comprehensive guide for what to do.
There is also a vacancy for a Racing Secretary. The Racing Secretary has traditionally organised road races and time trials on behalf of the club, but with ever increasing traffic
and policing issues road races have not been organised for a number of years. This role is suited to someone who is, or has been, a competitive cyclist. It would also suit someone who rides with our members and can organise  competitive events that they want to take part in. A working knowledge of  Cycling Time Trials rules and regulations and those of British Cycling is an advantage but guidance will be provided from the delegates to these organisations.  The time trials for 2017 have been aproved and organisers are in place.

We have a Committee of up to 9 ordinary members which is elected each year. The Committee helps the officers run the club and it is an ideal starter position for someone to help while learning more about the club.

If you would like to help running the club next year please come along to the meeting on Monday.
