Tuesday Night Club Nights

Due to the popularity of last year's sessions, we have again booked Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit (Prissick) every Tuesday evening throughout the winter for exclusive use by Stockton Wheelers members from 7pm - 9pm.

The plans for the sessions are as follows, however this will be subject to review depending on demand:

7pm to 8pm social session
The first hour will be open to any senior member, and any youth members who are in coaching groups A, B or C (10.45 session) . This restriction is needed for safety reasons due to the potential large numbers of riders. Riders in these groups have shown the ability to ride safely under these conditions. The sessions will not be coached sessions for seniors. For youth riders the sessions will not follow the same structure as the Saturday morning coaching sessions but there will be at least one coach present working with riders. The intention is for youth riders to use the session to build stamina and speed. Senior members can use this hour as a warm-up for faster riding in the second hour, to practice group riding skills, or for newer riders to increase their stamina levels with the company of other members.

8pm to 9pm
Chain Gang open to senior riders who have taken part in the clubs organised rides, and youth riders aged 12+ who have been signed off as capable by the club coaches with 2 ability groups if needed, as all riders participating in this session should have the skills and knowledge to communicate when passing the other group etc.

Hot and cold drinks will be available in the clubhouse and it is hoped that these evenings will help to develop the social side of the club, allowing opportunities for the different sections of the club to mix.

The sessions would cost £1.50 per rider for each hour that they participate and it is hoped that this income, along with money from refreshments will be enough to cover the costs of hiring the venue. All riders will be required to report to the clubhouse to sign in before they go onto the track.

Although the circuit has street lighting it is not particularly bright. Please ensure you have lights on your bikes, but nothing that is so bright that it will dazzle other riders. The temporary access path from Marton Road to the circuit is also not well lit so lights will be useful when leaving at the end of the session. The wearing of Cycle Helmets on the circuit is compulsory.

As with any event, people are needed to assist with the running of these sessions.
For each session we will need:
Someone to be present at the start and end of each session to take monies etc and ensure the clubhouse is  left as we find it.
 Someone to oversee the refreshments.
Someone willing to be first aider for the session.

If anyone is willing to assist in any of these roles, not necessarily every week, but for some, please let us know so that we can plan and ensure we are covered each week. Last year I was able to attend most weeks, however my work rota will be different this year so I will often be unavailable to take on these roles myself.

The first session will take place next Tuesday, 23rd September.

I hope to see many of you there.

Kind Regards,

Michelle Kilcullen
