Stokesley Charity Bike Ride

Having been superbly run for 25 years by its founder, Paul Mackintosh, following his retirement, the new custodians of this excellent annual event are the team at Stockton Wheelers Cycling Club, led by its chairperson, Nick Leech. However, the format is identical, the circuit the same and hopefully everybody will enjoy the day as much as the many hundreds who have participated over the years.

Last year’s event generated £9002.55 for the Headlight Project making the total raised for local charities since 1998 over £171000. We’d like to thank everybody who has contributed to the outstanding success of this event over the years, whether they be a rider, helper, or supporter. That is an amazing amount of money raised and without doubt has helped many, many people.

This year, we’re delighted to announce that the ride will be run in aid of The Teesside Charity. This charity’s key function is to financially support community groups and charities in our area, which support social wellbeing and provide support to those who find themselves at a disadvantage in the society they live in. More about this charity can be found at www.teessidecharity.org.uk.

We are also delighted to welcome Strada Cars Ltd as the primary sponsor for the event. Based in Eaglescliffe, Strada Cars have established a reputation for selling used cars throughout the UK with outstanding levels of customer service. More about Strada Cars can be found at www.stradacars.co.uk.

This year’s event again starts at the Car Park adjacent to Stokesley Town Hall at 10am on Sunday, May 12 and will follow the same stunning 30 mile route through the North Yorkshire countryside. Full details, application and sponsorship forms can be found on the event’s website www.stokesleycharityride.wikidot.com. Entrance fee in advance is £10 or £12 (payable in cash or by card) on the day. Clearly, if you can please generate some sponsorship, many local people are likely to benefit through The Teesside Charity.

Lastly, after 25 years of running this event, I would like to pass my thanks on to Paul Mackintosh on behalf of the hundreds of cyclists who have enjoyed the charity ride and the huge number of people who have benefited from the many thousands of pounds that have been raised. Thank you, Paul!

Here’s looking forward to fine weather and a great day in May. We very much look forward to welcoming you, hope you generate as much money as possible for a great cause and thoroughly enjoy the Stokesley Charity Bike Ride.
