  • Mel's Ride | Stockton Wheelers CC

An annual ride to support Mel and the work she does with the seeing dogs trust MEL'S RIDE Mel began her tandem journey as a stoker with Stockton Wheelers’ visually impaired tandem sessions at Middlesbrough Sports Village in August 2021. After gaining confidence there, she joined one of the Stockton Wheelers' social rides on local country lanes and enjoyed every moment of it. Following three years of tandem riding, Mel set her sights on a major milestone: completing a 100-mile ride. She chose a route to York and back, and the date was set for April 2024. Mel also decided to turn this ride into a fundraiser for The Seeing Dogs Alliance, setting an initial goal of £1,000. By the end of the event, she had exceeded expectations, raising £1,500. The funds were donated to support the purchase and training of assistance dogs for people who are blind or visually impaired. The ride received tremendous support, with 18 other Stockton Wheelers members joining in, many of whom were tackling their own first 100-mile challenge. The event was a resounding success; everyone enjoyed the experience and made a meaningful impact for a great cause. Following the event's success, the Stockton Wheelers committee has decided to establish an annual 100+ mile challenge ride, inviting all members to participate in this memorable adventure. The route for 2025 is yet to be confirmed, but we look forward to welcoming everyone for another incredible ride! seeing cheque (1) 1000015463 1000015464 seeing cheque (1) 1/5
